Types of Prayer
1 Timothy 2:2
firstof all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.
Here Paul makes it clear that prayer is the first thing a Christian should do, before making plans. Christian ministries often go to God in prayer after they have made their plans for the year.
However in the Book of Acts, we see that the Apostles repeatedly turned to God for guidance, as opposed to guiding Him through prayer and help. I pray that in times of economic recession, Christians would turn to God, who is our source. The Bank of Heaven is not going through lean times. The House of our God is the House of Bread (Bethel) (Gen 31:13); and the righteous will flourish in the courts of God (Psalm 92), irrespective of the economic climate.
In this passage, Paul draws our attention to the different types of Prayers:-
1. Requests (Petitions)
Spiritual Warfare is another form of prayer, not mentioned in this list.
